Club Restaurant & Bar

The Ipswich & Suffolk Club's Restaurant and Bar are open every weekday offering both traditional silver service and bistro style dining.

Bar open from 11am. Restaurant 12:30pm - 2:00pm


Tuesday 9th October - Scrabble Evening with Supper

Test your knowledge on a great fun evening.

Bar opens 6.30pm with a simple hot supper (diets catered for).


Thursday 11th October - Speakers Lunch - Millinery by Anne Reeder

This talk includes a brief history of headwear, a demonstration of some of the tools, materials and techniques used by a couture milliner and an opportunity to try on some hats. The talk also touches on the work of hatters (people who make men’s hats).

Pre-lunch drinks 11.45. Lunch 12.15pm. Cost: £17.00 per person.


Thursday 11th October - Club Fashion Show

See next season’s fashions. This is your opportunity to purchase from a stunning range of fashions and wide variety of fabulous accessories after the show, with superb cuisine in relaxed surroundings and inclusive arrival drink. 2 course dinner with full show.

Drinks 7.00pm. Show & Supper 7.40pm Cost: Only £28.00 per person including arrival drink, meal & wine, plus donation to charity. Guests most welcome.


Monday 15th October - NEW! Mahjong Group

Come and join John and Mo to this new addition to the club calendar. With over 20 years’ experience John & Mo can teach absolute beginners and provide a forum for players who do have some knowledge.

10.00am - 12.30pm. Entry cost including tea and coffee is only £3.00 for Club members. £5.00 for non-member guest.


Thursday 18th October - Club Quiz Night

Come and join us for a great fun night with a team or we will create one for you. Including Hot supper. Prize for the best team.

Bar opens 7.00pm. Quiz 7.30pm. Cost: Only £14.00.


Friday October 19th October - Trafalgar Club Dinner

With guest speaker Lt Cdr (retd) Nigel M Griffiths QGM. One of our flagship events this season with a classic British menu flogged out of our French Chef to celebrate our historic battle against the Franco-Spanish fleet 1805. Rig for Officers & Gentlemen Black Tie with Orders, Decorations & Medals.

Muster @7.00 Post Meridiem. Dining @7.30 Bells. Cost: £32.50 per person.


Saturday 20th October - Suffolk Gardens Trust Lecture

The Influence of India on English Gardens. By Kate Harwood.

Thursday 25th October - Speakers Lunch - Borin Van Loon - Ipswich Historic Lettering

The talk explores painted ghost signs and lettering carved into buildings and cast into metal in out-of-the-way places which shed a light onto the history of the location and of Ipswich. Artisans, businesses, noblemen and civic authorities have left their (often obscure) marks and signs and they reveal a rich and quirky history.

Pre-lunch drinks 11.45. Lunch 12.15pm. Cost: £17.00 per person.


Thursday 25th October - Image Salon Supper Evening

An award winning salon, bringing experts including owner and director Sue Adams to the club to do demonstrations for Makeovers for mature skin, Nail Health, Skin Care. We will have 3 individual demonstrations and advice before supper, followed by a final demonstration after supper.

Start 7.00pm. Supper 7.40pm Cost: Only £18.00 per person including a one course supper and coffee. Guests most welcome. Exclusive offers on the night.

snooker at the Ipswich and Suffolk ClubThe Ipswich and Suffolk Club boast a superb snooker facility with two first class tables in gererously proportioned adjacent rooms, conveniently located next to the club bar!

Here a thriving snooker section plays informally on a daily basis and throughout the year in club and inter-club competition.

The snooker section has for many years been under the capable stewardship of Snooker Captain Allan Williams, who with the help of the snooker committee makes sure that the full programme of matches are always well attended and much enjoyed by all.

The Ipswich and Suffolk Club Book GroupOwing to their popularity, the Ipswich & Suffolk Club runs two Book Groups for the enjoyment of its members.

Running throughout the year, the Book Group operates on either the first or the third Wednesday of every month depending upon which group you join.

The club Book Groups see an eclectic range of modern and classic literature discussed by its members.

All members are welcome to come along and join the discussions plus enjoy an informal light lunch afterwards.

Bridge at the Ipswich and Suffolk ClubCaptained by Maurice Barnes, the Ipswich and Suffolk Bridge Club meets every Tuesday morning for bridge in the Adam Room ahead of an enjoyable lunch in the club restaurant.

Here duplicate bridge is keenly contested by members and guests.

 
Golf | Print |

Regular golfing activity for members in IpswichMany of our members are keen amateur golfers and the club’s golf section provides regular opportunities to play in friendly competition.

Matches are played annually against local rivals, the Bury Farmers Club and the Colchester Garrison Officers Club and every year the Barnard Cup (stableford golf day) and Northgate Trophy (knockout) are keenly contested.

Our Scrabble Club usually runs in the evening of the second Tuesday of the month.

Test your wordplay skills and knowledge against other club members at a great fun evening.

Bar opens 6.30pm with a hot supper (diets catered for) and Scrabble to follow.

 
Chess | Print |

Our Chess Club runs the second Wednesday of every month commencing 6:30pm and is open to all members whether you are a complete beginner, rusty player or more experienced as the group can cater for all levels and abilities. Please do bring along a board if you have one.

Please note that there is no catering at this event but the Club Bar will be open.
